Issue with Linking/Refreshing Chart Type Excel2007 to PowerPoint20

A student has indicated an interest in linking a chart in Excel 2007 to
PowerPoint 2007 in such a way that:

If they want to change the "chart type" in the source (Excel), then
the linked chart in PowerPoint will also change either:
automatically or
through another mechanism (macro?)

I've experimented and cannot get this to happen. Any suggestions. Data
updates obviously work with existing charts, but NOT if you try changing
CHART TYPES in the source.
