Issue with Office 2007 Compatibility Pack - not working!

I was sent a resume that was composed in Word 2007. I apparently need the
Office 2007 Compatibility Pack to convert this document so I can read it in
Word 2003. I downloaded and installed the pack at the following link:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...70-3AE9-4AEE-8F43-C6BB74CD1466&displaylang=en

After the installation and a reboot, I attempted to open the file. I get
the following message:

"This is a pre-release version of the compatibility pack and can open
pre-release Office 2007 files only. Do you want to check for a newer version
of the compatibility pack?"

If I click "OK", it takes me to the same link to download the same file.
Why isn't the converter working properly? Am I just out of luck in opening
this resume?

Thanks!
Sara

That's the final version of the compatibility pack. I could imagine that
the file was created with a pre-release version of Office and that the
compatibility pack is not opening it because of that. If you can, send
me the file via email and I'll see what is going on here (you can get my
email from my website).

It was a pre-release file but the RTM version of the Compatibility Pack
gave the wrong error message.

I was plagued with this problem under Vista. I just upgraded to Window
7 (Home Premium) and uninstalled the compatibility pack, downloaded i
again from Microsoft, and reinstalled it. That seemed to fix it! I ca
now read docx files in Office XP (just as I used to be able to unde
Windows XP). The files are a bit slow to convert, but they do open
