Issue with "W's" in navigation bars

P

Patty MacDuffie

I am having a problem with the display of the leading W's in the navigation
bar on the left side of my pages. I've seen this with FrontPage through
many versions and I've never figured out any way to fix it. You can see
what I mean here: www.computerhaven.info. If anyone has any ideas on how
to fix it, I'd appreciate it. The link titles are apparently taken from the
text on the Navigation view of the website, and you can't insert code there.

Those are images. It isn't text; it's an image.

Patty!

I'm sorry no to have the answer. There was a thread some time ago (8/2003)
about this. You can find it via Deja. The subject was:

Letter W is cutoff on navigation overlays

It seems that the consensus (after some contention) was that it had to do
with the theme. (I think you're using one, too).

Hope this helps.

Just read that thread, Stephen. I purchased this theme, so maybe I can go
back to the folks who designed it and see if they can fix it. :)

I am Stephen. I guess this is something Microsoft should fix, eh? :)
Thanks for the info. I'll take a look.

There is nothing there for MS to fix

When you use a theme and nav bars FP generates the Text for the nav bar by creating a transparent .gif (in your _overlay folder)
using just the nav view text
Then FP merges the transparent .gif w/ the theme button image to generate the button images (in your hidden _derived folder) and use
them for nav bars

You need to be careful picking fonts and colors in themes for nav bars, because there can be a incompatibilities taht will not merge
(based in the theme button image and it's colors / transparency settings)
Use a differnt Font style and or color for the text
Format Theme (select your default theme and thr dropdown to customize)
Graphics (Verticle Nav bars) and the Text Tab
or Colors and the Custom Colors Tab
Then save as a new theme name - say: twc-table223a

Where do I switch? I wasn't aware I could choose the font on the navigation
page. Or does it pick up my font from elsewhere?

wrote in message I've used that theme before without a problem...try switching to a different
font.
