Hello,

I can't seem to find a way of showing issues and doc icons so that they show
against the relevant linked tasks in a Project Detail View, or indeed when
viewing teh project in Microsoft Project - is this possible - if not why not
? Seems like it would be a great thing to be able to do !

Thanks

Ian

The reason that you cannot see indicators for Documents and Issues in
detailed Project views in PWA is because the Indicators column is not
included in any of the detailed Project task views, nor can the Indicators
field be added to any detailed Project view. The Indicators column for a
project in Microsoft Project does not show indicators for Documents and
Issues either, however, both the Documents and Issues pages of PWA are
directly available in the project plan by clicking Collaborate - Documents
or Collaborate - Issues.

In addition, if you examine each project in any of the Project Center views
in PWA, you will see indicators for both Documents and Issues in the
Indicators column. Clicking on a Document indicator will navigate you
directly to the Document libraries for that project, and clicking on an
Issue indicator will take you directly to the View and Submit Issues page
for that project. Hope these answers help.

Hi Dale,

Thanks for your comprehensive reply. Much appreciated. Its still a shame
that the icons aren't visible at the project detail view though !

Perhaps I can ask you two other questions :-

1. Why is it when I attampt to link an issue or document to a task and I
choose All Tasks in the dialog, I can only see some of the tasks in the
project, not all of them as I would expect. I can't link certain docs to
tasks that I need to. BTW I am not the PM for this project if that makes a
difference.

2. Sometimes ( quite often in fact) when trying to log in to PWA, we get
timeout errors on the connection. Some of my colleagues just can't log in at
all ! Any ideas. BTW I posted this seperately in the NG.

Thanks

Ian

Ian:

Tip: You can expose all three hyperlink fields in project detail views.
Expose the HREF field to create actionalble links to specific documents in
project detail views. The documents can live in file shares or in the
SharePoint libraries. Keep in mind that the system continues to observe
Project Server security rules when linking to SharePoint documents and users
need access to shares that contain documents you link to. You can't display
the PWA style icons in the Project detail views because the data isn't part
of the collection being read.
