Issues when NOT collaborating

Hiya. I'm a single user with Project Prof but can't find
a way of using Issues (or Risks for that matter) without
all the collaboration software that goes with it. Surely
there's something simple I can do to access this
facility? Your help greatly appreciated, please. Thanks,
DJ

Risks, Issues, and Document management are features bundled with Project
Server 2003 through Windows SharePoint Services (WSS). If this solution is
not appropriate for your situation, then you will need to use a manual
method of tracking issues or risks for your projects. One approach might be
to create an Issues template and a Risks template in Word and then
distribute them to your project team members. Ask them to use one of these
forms whenever they have an issue or risk they want to log and track with
the project. You might also want to create a shared folder somewhere on
your network where team members can save risk or issues documents. To
submit a risk or issue to you, they should create a document from the
appropriate template and then save the document in the shared folder. They
should also send an e-mail to you and other impacted team members about the
new risk or issue. Please understand that this is a manual method, which
may seem a bit cumbersome to you. However, without using Project Server,
you cannot have the automated approach to tracking risks and issues. Hope
this helps.

Thank you for this. I've been using a manual system (long
time, boring) and thought I'd finally found a tool to
manage this for me. I gather the WSS and Project Server
2003 is at the top, corporate end of the market, fee
wise. I'll be too scared to ask...
Thanks for clarifying for me.

DJ,

WSS is free with Windows Server 2003 (probably even the web version of 2003
if I am not mistaken). Your only cost is going to be Windows Server and
Project Server, and any Project licenses. You need to buy CAL's for Project
Server as well. It is not terribly expensive really, considering the
overwhelming feature set.
