Issues wil saving an' 07 presentation

Hello--

I just finished a pretty big presentation and I'm having some issues with
saving. First, I'm having to "save as" a 2003 ppts in order for my clients
to view the product. However, whether i save the file as 07 or 03 some of my
graphs (pie charts) that have leader lines drop the lines. This is apparent
only when I go back in to edit or re-name ect that the lines are missing.
Because the 03 version saves the charts as images, they are uneditable and
when the leader lines disappear, I'm SOL trying to salvage the integrity of
the chart. I end up having to go back to the originating 07 file, put the
leader lines back in and resave as an 03-- only to find out the issue isn't
resolved.

So my question is what am I doing wrong? I right click the labels and check
the box for the leader lines and they do appear-- but they obviously do not
save! Any ideas? Thanks in advance...

Well, I have good news and bad news.

Good news is, I can't reproduce this. So it's not a bug in PPT.

Bad news is, I can't reproduce this. And I don't know what's causing the
problem. I wonder if the leader lines are actually there, but they're the
same color as the background or something.

Does the 2003 version show the charts as images? For some reason, I was
thinking that 2007 charts can be edited in 2003, but I don't have a 2003
machine handy right this second to check.

What type of chart are you working with? If it's indeed uneditable in 2003,
maybe that's because you used some new "special effects"?

Hi Echo--

I'm using a pie chart-- under the 2007 insert tag-- but it looks to be the
same thing I would use in 2003-- however it doesn't allow me to edit it in
2003. I'm not purposefully using any new "woohoo" feature in 2007. So if it
is some new feature i'm unaware of this.

I'm going to continue to look around and see if I can "simplify" the chart
of something to that effect.

Needless to say it is driving me nuts!

Echo I should mention that this leaderline issue does not effect all of the
charts-- only some at any given time and they're sometimes not even the same
charts-- meaning, chart A may have missing lines while next time chart B will
have them missing, but A's will have returned.

ooooooh, that's weird. It almost sounds like a video driver issue.

So, when you save as 2003 and open in 2003, you see missing leader lines?
And then when you re-open the file in 2007 to correct it, the leader lines
are missing on the same slides? Or are they missing on different slides?

Let me see if I can type this out without confusing you or myself )

I'm using my laptop, which has 2007 to make the presentation and then I save
it to the older version-- however, regardless of the version (03 or 07) the
leaderlines will disappear on certain slides sometimes but not all the time
and it doesn't matter if I'm using my desktop (which I'm using now) or my
laptop. Its a if they just don't take!

Because I'm in a time limiting situation, I drew the lines in as best I
could on the slides that are currently affected. So far, upon reopening, no
other slides have lost their leaderlines.

I'll continue to investigate but for now-- I gatta run!

Good solution for when in a pinch.

If you want to revisit after the pinched has punched, holler back.
