I have a small team with many small projects to manage.
I use resource levelling to calculate schedules for these projects, but have
found that some rather odd resource assignments have been set by Project.
First of all it is assigning resources to tasks on days in the past even
though the resources have entered in timesheets for those days. Those
resources are then overallocated on those days and the task schedule is
useless. I would like it to only schedule tasks for days beyond when
timesheet actuals have been entered.
Secondly, it is assigning tasks to resources later than they should be,
leaving these resource underallocated on earlier days when they could have
been working on these tasks. The project and the tasks have all been set to
be completed as soon as possible with the exception of the last task which
has finish by no later than date constraint.
Thirdly, I encountered what I think is a bug. I assigned all tasks to a
single resource. However, I also assigned the summary tasks to the same
resource. This cause all hours to be doubled for that resource. Obviously
it doesn't make sense to assign summary tasks to resource - my mistake - but
it shouldn't have caused this behaviour.
Hope someone can shed some light on the above.
Thanks
Mark
