It didnt work

MIchael

I am using FP2000. I would like to add a PDF file 3,308KB
in size (our catalog) so my customers can download it.

Can this be done, and if so, how?

I want to thank everyone for the help but I am still
having a problem. Does the size of the file matter? For
some reason I get an error message every time and I cannot
import it. If I try a smaller file it works (under 1,000KB)

Am I doing something wrong? or is this the case.

Thanks for the help
Michael

Yes it is a file size issue with the FrontPage Server Extensions
To fix you local FP2000 SE, you will have to Edit your registry (always back up your registry before any edits)

Find the registry key
HKey_Local_Machine, Software, Microsoft, Shared Tools, Web Server Extensions, All Ports.

Once there, add the following string value (if it is not there):
vti_maxformcontentlength
then assign the value you want in bytes: 4000000.

Even w/ this fix you may have problems publishing it to your host server (server timing out)

A workaround w/o any registry editing (if your host supports subwebs) is to:
1) create a small .pdf file w/ the same name and File Import it to a folder in your local site and create a link to it
2) convert that folder to a subweb (right click the folder to convert to web)
3) Publish the web including subwebs
4) Open your web with a 3rd party FTP program, and FTP the correct larger pdf to the subweb folder (do not FTP anything else)
