Items not leaving Outbox

Hello,

I am using Outlook 2007. Today items started jamming up in my outbox. I
can receive mail, however. They just won't send. I have an Access
application which sends out emails, and in the past this happened a couple
times with those emails and I solved it my opening the items then sending.
Then it would clear up. I don't know if this is a related type problem.
When it first occured, I rebooted and Outlook issued a warning about not
being closed down properly and something about opening in Safe Mode. I
clicked no.

Thank you for any help and God Bless,

Mark A. Sam

Is Outlook *running* at the time the new outbound e-mails are
programmatically added to its Outbox? Adding an item programmatically,
like when using File -> Send as Email in some application, means that
only a stub of Outlook gets loaded which is sufficient to handle its
new-mail compose function. Once the item has been created and closed,
Outlook unloads. Since Outlook isn't running, it can't send anything,
either. You end up having to load Outlook and go into the Outbox folder
to reopen the item to use the Send button.

Otherwise, perhaps the problem is that you are sending an overly huge-
sized e-mail. Your mail server may limit the size of your outbound
e-mails. Since it rejects the big one, the mail session fails and none
of the other outbound messages get sent. How big are them items that
get stuck in the Outbox folder? Are they bigger than the maximum-size-
per-message quota for your account at the mail server?

Thanks for your response. Outlook is open when the emails are generated and
I use Automation. But the problem cleared up overnight. I think it was a
problem with the Web hosting company's server.

God Bless,

Mark
