I've read alot about PP to DVD and comp to tv converters, but...

I guess I have a couple of questions concerning powerpoint shows through the
TV.

I don't know if what I want to do is possible. I work for a school district
and I am trying to put my daily schedules and activities on powerpoint to
make them a little more interesting for my kids and a little easier on me. I
was gonna go with a computer to TV converter, but I've heard that it would be
too blurry since it is not a HDTV that I will be using.

So first question, does anyone have any experience with this and is it true
and does anyone know of a converter that will work with a non-HDTV?

Second question, if I can't go with the converter option, is there a way I
can put a powerpoint file on a CD or DVD and put it in my DVD player so that
I can run the slide show and still be able to trigger my own transitions
instead of having to try to guess the timiing (because with working with
kids, I don't see that being an option).

Honestly, the price of LCD displays has come down so much its cheaper and
MUCH easier to simply get a cheap display and hang it where you want.

What Austin says is true, but "come down so much" is a relative term.
For a school teacher with limited access to technology funds, it might
not have come down enough. People have been displaying PowerPoints on
tvs for many years (long before HDTV existed). It is true that the
quality is not great, but it depends on what you are trying to display.
A few lines of a daily schedule shouldn't be a problem. The last time I
looked (and this was a few years ago), converters were, I believe, under
$100.

Thank you David. Yeah, we're only given about $1000 for supplies for the
year, so trying to buy an LCD screen is out of the option. Plus, the
district wont let us buy anything that we could get from the district's
warehouse, including monitors, and the largerst monitor they have is too
small for what I'm trying to do. So I take it from the responses so far then
that there is no way to put the powerpoint on a dvd and still be able to
trigger my own transitions and what not? Is there a way I can post the
powerpoint on here so everyone can get an idea of what I'm trying to display

You can convert your PowerPoint to DVD and then play it on the DVD
machine.
I don't know if you have tried any PowerPoint to DVD converter,
Wondershare PPT2DVD can support both standard DVD and HD DVD, you may
find the details here:
http://www.ppt-to-dvd.com/ppt2dvd/overview.html
You can get a academic price from Wondershare OR you can buy the Lite
version, it is affordable I think.
