Jet 4.0 SP8 question

Sorry everyone, but this probably falls into the 'stupid' category here...

I'm running O2kP on XP & W2k. XP here at work and W2k at home. And I just
built myself a 'backup' machine here at work (W2k machine).

I've been using both Windows Update & Office Update to apply updates. Not once
in the past several days that I've been applying updates to these three machines
here at work, has either MS site indicated that I needed to apply Jet 4.0 SP8.
Yet when I check manually, it appears that I need it. I was thinking either:

1.) Another update applied it. (Office Service Pack?)
2.) MS thinks that *I* don't need it!

When I started checking the old posts before asking my question here, I came
across one (Oct 2003) that indicated:

Eventually these updates will also be available in Windows Update
through the typical automatic detection, but for now...

So here comes the question...

I *do* want to apply this service pack, don't I? I mean, I haven't been having
any problems, of which I am aware, on the machines I've been using. But since
the service pack exists, whether or not either MS site says that I need it, I
should apply it, right?

If I do, anything I need to watch out for? Maybe 'fix' before diving in and
*using* Access?

Thanks in advance for your response,

Tom

'fraid not. The only stupid question is the one not asked.

You're running what? O2kP - I've looked at my keyboard trying to figure
the mistype but can't quite figure it - what's the P

perhaps - there was an update to Jet not related to Access.

I don't know if this will help but I went to Windows\system32 and found
msjet40.dll, right-clicked on it and chose properties - version and it said
4.0.8618.0
and I'm uptodate with all operating system and office updates.
