Jet 4.0 SP8

Searched Microsoft Office downloads for Jet 4.0 SP8.
Found only downloads for 2003, XP and Win 2000.
My question is; can I use Jet 4.0 SP8 Win 2000 download
for a PC with NT 4.0 installed?
I desire to upgrade this machine to the latest Jet 4.0
configuration.
Machine has MS Office 2000 premium Sr1 installed and uses
Access 2000 DB application.

Cheers,
Henry

Windows 98 (and possibly NT 4.0) version should be available shortly. Keep
checking at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads for availability. Search for
Product/Technology: "Jet database engine" and Keywords: "SP8".

I think MS plans to leave them at SP7. These OS can't run Office 2003...so,
why bother?

The absence of a service pack to date is an OS issue, not an Office issue. It is
my understanding that SP8 *will* be available for Win 98, at least. I'm not sure
about Win NT 4.0, but I see no specific reason why that OS would be overlooked.

Who cares? SP8 is irrelevant because no developer in their right mind would
use A2003? MS won't get much sympathy in the developer ng's, and don't rely on
my saying so.

OK Gentleman, I hear you!
Unfortunately, there are many organizations that are
still using Win 98, NT4, Win ME, etc. Not all
organizations update as quickly as Microsoft would like.
So we, as developers, must be able to accommodate our
users with the latest a greatest Jet Engine and other
support for Access.

I will continue to view MS Access Jet updatres to see if
they provide a Service Patch for NT.

Thank you for the information.
Cheers,
Henry

Access 2003 is not the only version benefiting from the service pack - it's just
the most annoying. <g>
