journal auto not working

i set up journal in outllok 2007 /vista (exchange server but only pop3 mail)

I added items manually for contacts but after setting up >tools >options

journal pref >select contacts, emails I get from these clients (contacts)

are not being auto recorded.

can someone please enlighten me?
