I have renamed the cache files (extend.dat, outcmd.dat,
frmcache.dat, & views.dat). I also created a second profile
to test it, but it keeps happening. I open Outlook and go
to my Journal options only to discover that the check boxes
for Word, Access, Excel, and Powerpoint are not checked. I
can open up regedt32 and see where the settings are in the
registry, they are set to record but the options box does
not reflect that setting. If i check the boxes they will
record fine as long as I don't close Outlook, as soon as I
restart Outlook I have to go back into the Journal options
and check the boxes again. I went through the Group Policy,
but found nothing that would seemingly affect this like
network settings, offline files, application settings, etc.
I even submitted this issue to MS's online (free) tech
support, that's where I was told to rename the cache files,
but that didn't work. I'm not the only person in my office
with this issue, and this is how some of my coworkers keep
an eye on the time spent on these documents for billing's
sake. If anyone has had a similar issue and has fixed it,
please let me know how, I feel like I've tried everything.
Thanks,
Eric
