Journal will not record anything!!

My journal in Outlook will not record any document I enter
as it should. Inthe settings, Tools-Options-Journal
Options, I have set it to record both excel and word but
it does not record.

I have done an advanced search to check if it is that I
just cannot view it, but there is no journal recorded
other than any manual journals I have entered.

I have tried to reinstall office xp but it seems to revert
to whatever settings prevailed before.

Any suggestions on a fix?
