JPEG, PNG and Webpage Size

I recently upgraded from Publisher 2000 to Publisher 2003. When I updated my webpages it converted by JPEGs to PNGs which created file sizes about five times what I had before. Since this dramtically slows the website down is there a solution to this problem? Thanks!

Turn off support of png and vml under tools, options.
note that some png may still be used but clearing those options will help.
going from 2000 to 2003 is a shock, you need to visit my sites 2002 section
and read the articles on the changes that took place in 2002 that you
missed.
