jpgs for use in powerpoint

i want to make a powerpoint show showing several of my lighthouse slides.
what resolution would i use in jpg format to achieve the optimum for viewing
as a powerpoint.

The resolution to aim for depends on the resolution of the device (display /
projector) that you will be using.

If the pictures are already in JPG format, why not let PowerPoint worry
about it?

1) Insert all your pictures (at their current resolution) using the Insert
Pictures => New Photo Album method (post back if you need help with this)

2) Double click on one of the pictures
-or-
Select a picture and click on Format => Picture

3) Click on Picture tab (probably already selected)

4) Click on Compress

5) Check boxes for 'Web/screen resolution' and 'All pictures' should be
checked. Also the lower two check boxes should be checked.

6) Say OK to dialog box

7) Click Apply

There are many compression add-on type programs, but their main strength is
for non-JPG images which PowerPoint can not optimize. If you want to look
at these types of solutions, check out PPTools Optimizer and NxPowerLite,
amongst others.

Be sure to use the Insert > Picture function for your jpgs. Don't copy and
paste - the compression tool won't work.
