Junk E-Mail filter not working

N

nickonsummerdale

In the last 10 days the junk e-mail filter has been letting 30 or more junk
e-mails through per day. I usually get 1 or 2 that slip through. i recieve
about 350 junk mail per day. My setting is on high and items on my junk list
are getting through.
this is happening on 3 seperate computers, 2 - at work and 1 at home. this
is also happening to others at work. No viruses or spyware/malware found on
any machine.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, nickonsummerdale asked:

Try SpamBayes.

Or SpamPal. It has a Bayesian plug-in, and lots of other. All free.
SpamBayes is only a Bayesian filter available as a plug-in to Outlook
(so it only works with Outlook); however, it might be able to be ran as
a proxy you can chain into your e-mail path, like SpamPal, so it would
work with any POP3 e-mail client.

But then nick never did tell *us* what VERSION of Outlook he is using.
The "junk filter" he mentions could be the simplistic static list of bad
words in OL2000/2002, or it might be the Bayesian filter included in
OL2003 (which, for what I've heard, isn't very configurable and has
training problems).

Don't rely on the junk filtering included in any version of Outlook to
eliminate your spam problem. Employ additional software. Several
anti-spam products are free.

I forgot to mention that the Outlook filter has been working fine until about
10 days ago. I wonder if some spammers have compromised it.
