I strongly encourage that someonw rite a KB article on the following:
What does Visual Studio do to run a .NET add-in under the debugger.
Listing out the specific registry and other settings would allow a
developer to figure out what is going wrong when Visual Studio can no
longer debug an add-in. And registry settings should never be "magic"
as that does not allow developers to resolve some problems.
