Why was I unsuccessful on three attempts to download and install the junk
email filter KB870765? I have XP Professional SP2. I had Norton Antivirus
2005 disabled during the attempted downloads.

Hi AusJohn

I too have also tried several times to apply this Office update
without success. I too am running XP Pro with SP2 but with Sophos AV
and I didnt bother switching it off during attempted update.

Not many responses to this post are there!
