KB896424 - Does it mess up drawing in Print Layout?

J

John

Hi,
My company received support calls last night and today from two
different clients who use Word to host an ActiveX object we have written.
They both have told us that they can insert our objects, but when they save,
or scroll, sometimes the image vanishes. One of them found that switching
out of print layout to normal layout fixes that issue, but then the objects
don't appear when printing!

This is one working day after the KB896424 update, and I believe the problem
is directly related.

I'm sorry, but that doesn't address the question. The users have succesfully
entered and editted the object. It exists in their document.

Sometimes, when in normal view, printing will leave empty space for some of
the objects.

Sometimes, when in print layout view, hitting CTRL-S to save the document
will cause the images representing our objects to disappear. But, when the
scroll around a bit, they can see them again.

Slide the acceleration down on your adapter, control panel, display, settings tab,
advanced button, troubleshoot tab.
If this solves your issue, you need to upgrade your video driver, go to the
manufacturer's web site of your graphics card and look around.

I can understand how that could maybe affect specific controls on the screen
display. But, how would it leave blank spots on a printed page?

They have been successfully using the software for many months. It wasn't
until the 9th or 10th (just after the security patch) that they started to
have this trouble.

I have noticed that Outlook Express just printed the line under my name after
installing the KB89...
It also affects printing text documents from Word and Excel, Notepad and
WordPad.
It does not seem to affect printing when photos or drawings are included in
the document.
I have removed the KB89... and the problem disappears. Once I install it
again it happens over again.
Removing the KB89.. every time i need a print from Word is really a hard way
to operate...
Printing from my image editing software works OK and unaffected. So does
programs from Adobe.

I have struggeled with this problem for a week or so. I use a Canon i865 jet
ink color printer. Now I have installed a new driver for this peripheral, and
it seems to have solved the problem.
