I just set up my vista with outlook 2007. I keep getting this error message
even though I set outlook as the default mail clinet:

"Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot
fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Office Outlook and set
it as the default mail client."

I'm getting the same error message and have looked on the Microsoft Support
website and what they have listed is of no help. Does anyone have a
solution?

Thanks.

I am using Office2003, but experiencing the same problem when I try to insert
an address on envelope with Word's mail merge (envelopes & labels).

Can anybody help us, please?

Hi, Need2know & Stephen,

Hope you are still checking this thread. Although I am a WinXP-Pro &
Office2003 user, this might help you both and other viewers.

At long last I am able to insert an address on single envelope/label from
Outlook contacts after checking all possible newsgroups, many of which were
no help as, in my case, Outlook had been chosen already as 'default mail
client' in both Outlook & Internet Options.
(Outlook/Tools/Options/Other -&- Control Panel/Internet
Options/Programs/Contact List)

Now, in the Internet Option, I also selected 'Outlook' for E-mail instead of
'Outlook Express (OE)'. Bravo!

OE still receives E-mails and auto-checks in the set-intervals as before.
However, when you newly open OE a pop-up message asks you if you would like
to make OE your default mail client. Simply click "No".

I never had all these complications with Win98+Office2000. As MS products
progress things seem to get more complicated rather than easier and simpler!!!

Hope Outlook/Word2007 works with the same method - if it does, please report
here. I tick in for 'Notify me of replies'.

Good luck!

Same problem here and I am using Vista with Outlook 2000. Yes, I know.....
Can't afford the upgrade to 2007 at this time. I have Outlook working for
the most part. But I wanted to import my Outlook messages, etc. into the new
Windows mail but I keep getting this message. I tried to use Internet
options in Vista, but it does not show my Outlook as a program I can set as a
default mail client.

When you use unsupported software, who can say what side-effects you'll see.
