Keeping Folders view expanded by default (?)

Does anybody know of a way to keep certain folders (i.e. Mail folders)
expanded by default when a user closes out then starts Outlook? Even if a
user expands the folders during a session, they are usually collapsed by
default. Is there a preferences setting I'm obviously missing, or does this
require some kind of VB in the background?
