Keeping nested folders open

In Netscape, I was able to keep nested local mail folders open while closing
the upper level folders that contain them. Is there a way to do this in
Outlook? It makes it easy to navigate between large groups of folders to
archive mail.

Which verion of Outlook? I'm using OL 2003 and subfolders stay open when I
expand the upper level, even if I stop and restart Outlook.
