keeping the whole footnote on the same page of the footnote reminder

I would like to keep the whole of a footnote in the same page as the footnote reminder. I do NOT want footnotes spanning more than one page. I would like this to happen for the whole document
Is there a way to obtain this

I know there is a horribly time-consuming way that consists in making each page a section of its own and set different margins on each page so that the footnote fits, but this solution make take days for such a long document as a dissertation
On the other hand, having footnotes spread through pages and pages is so unprofessional it is inadmissible (and having huge footnotes is quite common in a dissertation)

Any help would be greatly appreciated
