Is Jens saying that I need to buy a decent program to do this and you are
saying that Outlook Express has a newsreader that will do the same thing?
and if so, how do I use it?

Use a decent newsreader such as Agent ( http://www.forteinc.com/ ) instead of the Web interface.

No, you don't need to buy anything. There is a free version of Agent
that probably will suit your needs. Heck even Outlook Express is better
than the Web interface.
