Keeping words together

I have used Office for many years, but, with this last update (2003) I have
had a complication that I can't figure out. When I type a letter, my words
at the end of the line will separate. For example, If I would type
marshmallow, instead of moving the whole word to the next line it might put
"ma" on the end of one line and "rshmallow" on the following line. IT IS SO
FRUSTRATING!!! How do I fix this. No one else in my company has this
problem. I am assuming something needs "turned back on". H E L P! ! !

Hi Susie,

What view are you using? Normal view in draft mode
may exhibit this behavior if it is set to wrap based
on screen width.

What font are you using? If it's a 'decorative' font
(may look like 'letters' but are seen by the computer
as pictures of letters) then Word won't know where 'words'
are. You may want to test by creating a new document,
typing in a nonsense word and running spell check (F7)
to see if Word sees the error.

The font was the problem. It was defaulting to Sans Serif instead of Times
New Roman, and as soon as I switched it, it was moving whole words down to
the next line. Thank you. But, here's a question - how did my default font
get changed, and how do I make sure that it will stay with Times New Roman?
