keyboard characters

my keyboard characters don't correspont, for example if I want to use
inverted commas - when I type the upper case key for the commas ( " ) I get
the @ symbol and when I type the key for the @ symbol I get the inverted
comma symbol ( " ), and when I type the key for the hash symbol (#) I get a
back-slash ( \ ) .I am working with an Toshiba laptop "satelite"

If you are in the UK sounds like you have your laptop configured to use the
USA keyboard layout.

Go CONTROL PANEL --> REGIONAL & LANGUAGE SETTINGS --> Select the LANGUAGES
TAB and then press DETAILS. Set the UK keyboard as default and remove the
US Keyboard.
