Keyboard indent for Bullet and Number lists

E

I am like 99.9% sure that I used to be able to indent, or go to the
next level of a bullet and number list by pressing the TAB key while
typing, and I could back up a level by pressing SHIFT+TAB.

However, today as I am creating a new outline I seem not to be able to
do this. The only way I can seem to move between levels is to click on
"indent" under "bullets and numbering" in the formatting palette.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Erik-

It sounds like you are using the standard Bullets & Numbering presets
which are only one level. If you apply Outline Numbering
(Format>Bullets & Numbering--Outline Numbered you should be able to do
what you want.

Word>Preferences>Edit>"Tabs and backspace set left indent". Turn it ON.

'Taz, you had a late night? Not like you to miss that one :)

Cheers
