Keyboard mapping

SW: PowerPoint from Office XP (+SP1 and 2)
Has anyone ecounter an error in mapping shift left, right, up and down
functionality? Instead of mooving there are some other characters.
The possible cause - "interference" with incompatible legacy program.
How to recover (before reinstalling Office)?
