Keyboard shortcuts for symbols

In Office 2003, I was able to create alternate key combinations to insert
fractions. It appears that in Office 2007, the only way to insert fractions
is by using the mouse to point and click.

Does anyone know of a way to recreate this feature?

In Microsoft Office, I would go to Insert, Symbols. I would highlight the
symbol (in my case, the fraction) that I wanted to use. At the bottom right
of the window, it would show the unicode for that symbol. At the lower left
of the window, it allowed me to create a keyboard sequence that would bring
up the symbol when I was typing a document. For example, if I wanted to use
the fraction 1/2, I created a combination so that if I entered Alt,1,2, the
fraction would automatically get inserted in the document.

Hi Andy,

In Word 2007, you can get to that dialog and assign shortcut keys for a selected symbol using
Insert->Symbols=>Symbol=>More Symbols=>[Shortcut Key]

[also by using the Word 2003 menu shortcut of (Alt, I, S)

or you can get to the complete Word keyboard shortcut dialog using

Office Button=>Word Options=>Customize=>Keyboard shortcuts[Customize]

and scroll down the cialog to the 'Common Symbols' category to see what symbols already have shortcuts assigned. A list of keyboard
shortcuts can also be printed from
Office Pearl=>Print=>Print=>Print What (and choose 'Key assignments')

I too could get this to work in Word 2007 but what I need is to do the same thing in Excell 2007. Is it possible?
