I will be typing along and all of a sudden the keyboard switches as listed
above. I do not know what combination of keys I accidently hit, and I then
have to shut down. Help!

Hi, Joan,

Could you have a stuck Shift key? That can cause the behavior you mention.

No, I checked that. I think it is some kind of combination of keys I am
accidently hitting. I do not know if it could be a network thing. I type
too fast to realize what I do.

The symptoms you describe can only be caused by the keyboard thinking Shift
is pressed. If it really isn't stuck, might you have engaged sticky keys?
Check via Control Panel > Accessibility - or press Shift 5 times.

Computer says I cannot activate sticky keys due to restrictions. Is this the
Network saying this? I will keep an eye on the shift key and see if that is
what it is doing. I got a different keyboard a couple months back, and what
ever dept it came from did not keep it very clean. I tried to clean it up
some but....

Not being allowed to use sticky keys seems like a crazy restriction
(bordering on the illegal in this country I would think) - but if you're not
allowed then it can't be the problem. A (physically) sticking key does sound
like the problem.

Thanks for the reply and if you knew this municipality, illegal sounds about
right! Thanks for your help.
