keyboard works only in windows safe mode

E

Eric

I am having a similar problem to some others that have
posted on here. I have tried a ferw things more to no avail

All product in the office suite will load, but none will
accept key strokes of any kind. Starting word in "word
safe-mode" doesn't help either.

If I start the whole computer in safe mode I am able to
use word without issue.

I have checked MSCONFIG for anomalies at startup and
scanned for viruses and used spybot to check for anything
untowards on the machine. I replaced/renamed normal.dot.
Removed the PALM template from the startup folder and none
of those helped.

Thanks in advance for your help

Is this a problem only in Microsoft Applications? How about in WordPad or
NotePad?
Have you registered your applications?

See the MVP FAQ: <URL: http://www.mvps.org/word/> which is awesome!

Thanks for responding Charles - The keyboard works fine on
ALL of the other applications.

I'm positive OfficeXP will not start if it has not yet
been registered within the 30 day window. Taking the
keyboard functionality away is not a penalty for not
registering is it?

Thanks

I am having a similar problem. I cannot type in Word
unless I have the "insert" key set to typeover mode. Does
this work for you?

I had the same problem last year, but it went away - but I
don't remember how! All my products are registered and I
have the latest patches/updates installed. I am using Word
2002.

I would love it if someone would find an answer for us!

Thanks, Jill

If I understand correctly, you say that if you start Windows in Safe Mode,
you can open Word and type OK? What version of Windows and SP level are you
using? Do you have Windows Compatibility mode selected?
