Kiwiwebhost - a bit OT

Hope someone can help ........ Sick to death with Geocities I bit the bullet
and bought a domain name and paid hosting with kiwiwebhost.com
http://kiwiwebhost.com/

Rebuilt and published my site http://thepowderroom.net.nz


They seemed like nice boys, and everything was OK - but a couple of weeks
later my site has dissappeared, so have kiwiwebhost.com!

Does anyone know know what's happening??????

Steve, youd better tell me what you know - I have just rung Murray up and he
played dumb "it was ok yesterday, I'll check on it and phone you back"

It's not un-common for folks to setup a server at home, then advertise
hosting space. Get you to pay for the hosting, and pull chocks. It happens
OVERSEAS all the time. Unfortunately, They can get the american clients to
pay ultra-low prices for hosting...(And we are gullible enough to do it) and
take our money and run. Your best bet, if your site doesn't come up or you
can't get an answer is to contact the Better Business Burea, and the FBI
(via their internet fraud website through www.fbi.gov). If you don't get
the resolve you wish, contact a lawyer. :eek:)

I did a Sam Spade check on kiwiwebs.com
and on the domain you posted.
Both returned "Server Not Available."

Maybe he didn't know there is a problem
and he'll fix it.
Maybe he went out of business.

That I don't know.

I hope for your sake that it is a
problem that will be fixed soon.

Was he surprised when you called??

Sorted! Thank you for your help Steve, Murray phoned me back (so I didn't
have to tell his mum!) it was the server he rents space on.
He has re-created me (!) and I have uploaded my site - it looks as though
it's working again.

Where do you live in NZ? .. I'm going to be in Mapua near Nelson for 10 days
the end of April - early May. Any suggestions about things to do??

Eleanor, did you try http://thepowderroom.net.nz ?

You'll have a wonderful time in NZ, I am English and emigrated here 18 years
ago and have never looked back - I love it. Nelson is beautiful - run a
Google, but try to get up the North Island as well because it's quite
different to the South Island. Have a great time.
