KL Overallocations less than 8 hrs

I am seeing overallocations yet the person may have only worked 4
hours one day and less on others. His schedule shows a normal work
week, no vacations. I'm showing one overallocation for a total of 13
hours yet there's no data to support that. What's going on?

Hi Cleo,
I suspect that the resource has two or overlapping tasks on the same day.
By default tasks start at 8.00am. If I have task 1 for 2 hours, and task 2
for 4 hours, both scheduled for 28/11/07, then technically Projet wlill show
me as overallocated, as I'm schuduled to start both at 8.00AM, so for the
hours 8-10am I'm 200% overallocated, 10-12.00 working at 100%, and then 12:00
onwards at 0%. Levelling on a day by day basis would fix it, but levelling
across multiple projects is not something I like to do. Let me know if this
is your issue.

This is cross multiple projects. I'm seeing only his time for that
particular project/day and none of the others. That's why I'm rather
puzzled about it. I just don't see it.

Have you got the load summary resource data checkbox ticked when you start
project. You'll need to set the Manual checkbox to see this in the Project
Server accounts section.

The eaisest place is in Project | Tools | Enterprise Options | Project server
accounts. Make sure that you select to manually control the connection
state. Then, when you reopen project and are promted for the project server
instance and credentials, you have the option to load summary resource
assignments - try looking at the resource's data with this flag checked and
unchecked.
