You can use an autonumber or a counter in a text box.
Check around. We found it only marginally more expensive to get our tickets
printed with embossed numbers and perforatted stubs over printing on plain
paper when the cost of all the materials was added up. Even if you
volunteer your time it could be better spent getting prizes.
In our case we have to pay for 500 but never sell more than 400.
The assumption is that the printer will actually charge for the work. Ours
donates the things every few years.

We get bus loads from San Francisco and the record is over 1000 miles when a
visit was planned to coincide with our feed.
Anybody want tickets or to send prize donations.
