Lag in typing while composing a message when email being received

In Outlook 2007, my typing is being paused while I'm composing a new e-mail
message any time an incoming e-mail message is being received. After the
e-mail is received, all the characters I typed during the lag period suddenly
appear all at once.

I just got a wireless router and have a wireless keyboard and I wonder if
the two signals are interefering? I didn't have this issue with a regular
router. All suggestions welcome. It's very annoying as I type a lot of e-mail
messages.

BTW, I just tested this by sending email to my Hotmail account and there was
no lag in typing when receiving mail from my Hotmail account. There is only a
lag in typing when receiving mail from my Comcast account.

There can be a lag (or the keyboard or mouse just won't work) if the
keyboard doesn't have a good, clear path to it's receiver but it should not
be affected by the wireless router. You should have them separated by
several feet (3 ft should be good) if possible to insure there isn't
interference, just to be safe.

Is the indexer running? It will cause slow responses.

You would think so, but I switched back to my older router, a Linksys
wireless 2.4GHz 54 mpts router and the issue was resolved. It must be that
the new router has issues, which I know it does. The company (D-LInk) wanted
me to install some firmware update for his model of router that was a beta
version and start the troubleshooting process all over again--NOT!! I spent
days working on this frustruting issue. I packed up the D-Link Xtreme N
Gigabit Router, Wireless N and took it back for a refund. What a waste of
time and never again. As they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. That new
router was no faster than my trusty old one.
