LAN use with Outlook

I just contected my desktop to my new laptop vis a LAN. I
use Outlook for Internet email, contacts and calendar and
would like for the two machines to be synchronized. When
I go to the laptop after working on the desktop for a few
days it downloads all of my email since I was on the
laptop last. I would alo like contacts and appointments
that I enter on one machine to be reflected on the other.
any suggestions?
