laptop screen

When I use the powerpoint and put the slides on the wall my laptop screen is
black. I can't view my laptop as I present. FN and F8 puts the slides on
the wall but the laptop screen goes blank. Any suggestions? Thanks!!! It
is a Dell.

Have you tried pressing Fn/F8 (if that's the key used by your computer)
again? I usually have to do it two or three times to display on the screen
(or wall) as well as on my laptop.

As Andrea says the normal configeration is three presses (maybe slowly)

1 laptop only
2 usually both
3 projector

The order may vary.
