Hi Steve

this is a very strange problem but there should be absolutely no conflict
when installing the software as both Acer and Microsoft will tell you.

The obvious questions should be asked first! do you have the firewall turned
on when installing the software? This is not such a problem now but in the
early days of firewalls, there were one or two "conflicts" that arose when
installing new software. Is your new software 100% genuine? Does the laptop
have 100% functionality without the MS software?

Acer has had a problem with keyboards in the past and as an authorised
reseller I have come across a few. The first thing I suggest you do Monday
is to contact the Acer support line for your location and talk it through
with them. This may mean a warranty replacement or repair. It sounds like a
software conflict but may have its roots in a hardware problem.

I know I haven't answered your question but Acer really are the first point
of contact for this.

I have the same problem, though I am updating from office 2000 to the 2007
beta, when office is installed the quick launch buttons for open certain
appliactions and also the button to turn on the wireless card stop working. I
was wondering if anyone else had found this or knew anything about it.

The program which deals with the buttons is called the acer lanuch manager
(the program is running is fine just the buttons don't do anything), im using
an acer travelmate 4401.
