Large Blank Space - Auto Format?

Hello
I received a document created in Word (of which version I do not know). I am using MS Offic 2000 SR1 Professional. The person who created the document used Auto Formating. Now when I open the document there is a half page gap between page one and two...it does not look good. I cannot get rid of it. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated

Examine the first paragraph on page 2 to see whether it is formatted as
"Page break before" or "Keep with next."
