Large File Size with Little Data

When you have a large file and you delete rows, the file keeps the old
size, even though the data has been reduced significantly.

If you save it or delete all the rows below the data, it will not fix
it.

Does anyone now how to reduce the file size without having to cut and
paste it in another "clean" spreadsheet?

Thanks

Jorge,

You need to delete (really delete) the rows and columns beyond your data.
Select the first column past your data (click in its header), then select
all the columns from there to the far right (Ctrl - Shift - Right). Edit -
Delete (or Ctrl - minus). Not the delete key -- that just clears the cells.
Repeat for rows beyond your data. Save the file. You may have to close and
reopen it. If that doesn't work, turn around three times. Can't hurt.

Jorge,

Do you actually delete the unused space or just clear it?

Try these steps:

- select the first row below your actual data
- press Ctrl+Shift+Down arrow
- do Edit>Delete

- select the first column to the right of your actual data
- press Ctrl+Shift+Right arrow
- do Edit>Delete

- save the file, maybe also close it and reopen

That should fix it.
