I have a 1x2.25 meter poster created on Publisher with lots of photos taken
from a 7MP camera. The resulting file is about 400MB and I now want to
convert it to a TIFF for commercial printing. I have 500Mb RAM and massive
virtual memory but Publisher just generates an error (could not save).

Any suggestions?

Thanks, printing as a PDF seamed to work, the problem I had with that before
was my PDF driver did not support these page sizes, although PRIMOPDF does.

However when I print the very large files I dont get to see the colour
background. Also if I set a transparency colour on a graphic or drawing
object, these are lost when printing as PDFs. In otherwords when I draw a boc
over a graphic and set to 50% transparency and then print these the box comes
out as 100% transparency. The other time is if I use the picture toolbar set
transparency option, it looks OK on the screen, but not when printed. Any
ideas?

Oh dear yes, why did you use Publisher for that.
PagePlus10 should have been your software tool of choice

All I had to do was output as RGB rather than CMYK and it works perfectly -
just have to see what the printers say now.

I guess the reason that I used it that it is so intuitive to use, if you can
use Word you can use Publisher. The fact that I did not have to pay for it
also helps.

My main criticism is that when things go wrong it is not always easy to find
the answer straight away. I came across this solution almost by mistake.
