large number of task notifications

We are entering very large, long term projects where resources will be
assigned many tasks up front, although some may not occur right away. Do the
resources end up receiving a separate email for EVERY task assigned, or is
there some way to amalgamate them into one email message. For some, this
would mean the difference between 150+ task notifications, versus 1
notification.

The system sends a single e-mail mesage to each team member in a project to
notify them of all the tasks to which they are assigned in the project.
