Larger Periods

I read a digg.com article about a way to make your periods bigger to lightly
extend the size of your documents. Please don't lecture me on this because
its not for school or anything. Does anyone know how to do this in word?

A "period" is a character, and occupies one character space. Do you have
a reference to the article so someone can read it?
