Last record on a table

How do I get a query to refer to the last recod of a table
without specifying the record number? basically I want to
pull the information from the most recent table entry.

This link contains a replacement for DLookup() designed for that purpose:

For example, to get the ClientID from tblOrder for the record with the
highest OrderID, use:
=ELookup("ClientID", "tblOrder", , "OrderID DESC")

If you need something more powerful, you could use a subquery or one of the
other approaches outlined in this link:
