Latest Security Patch Iced my Outlook and Explorer V 6.0

I downloaded the latest security update. When I restarted
my PC, I found I could not access the internet using
Explorer from the PC, and my Outlook would not connect to
the internet either - I am guessing it uses Explorer as
its means to access the net. Outlook error is 0x00CCC0D
server cannot be found. I can get into the server from
the net and other PCs. Also, there are 2 servers giving
the same result.
To add to the mystery - I have other applications that
are still able to access the internet and download data
OK. The PC is still working OK to the rest of the
workgroup, and I can get files in and out of it with
workgroup PCs. The LAN connection is fine, and it is
making calls to the net OK.
The LAN connects via a router/firewall, and the other PCs
connect OK after updating.
I have checked for Doom etc, but all PCs are clean.

Which security patch and what version of Outlook are we talking about? Can
you ping the servers?

Outlook 2002 (10,4712,4219)

I do not know the patch number, if I did I would have
tried to remove it and re-install in case it was
corrupted. It was the Security Patch notified by
Microsoft on Monday as to be installed urgently.

I have tried to Restore Settings under XP and that made
no difference.

I can Ping the Servers, DNS Servers, my router and all
local PCs. But Explorer and Outlook wil not connect.
