Launch issue

I'm using office for mac 2008 on leopard and I can't launch anything from documents or stacks. if i try to i get a message saying word has unexpectedly quit and offering me a report to apple and relaunch option. relaunch does not solve problem.

Try deleting the preference files for the corresponding Office
applications in your DOcument folder. A lot of people have reported
similar problems after a migration from a previous version of Office.
