Launching Access - "Preparing to Install" message

P

Phil Davy

Hi

At work, every single time I launch Access, I get the above message, plus
"please wait while Windows configures XP Pro".

I have contacted IT Support and they have no idea what to do.

I'd be grateful for any pointers as, whilst not a showstopper, it drives me
mad!

Thanks
Phil

It could be due to not having administrative rights for the computer.
The Windows Installer is creating Registry entries and various files.
If you don't have the right permissions then the changes can not be
permanently created and the Windows Installer keeps on trying each
time you start the application.

Hi thanks for this.

So do I get Support to give me local admin rights please?

Thanks

You'd have to call them and ask???

I'm not sure what you are asking exactly, oh, maybe how to persuade
them?? it's not something you need on a permanent basis - just long
enough for the installer information to be written and saved.
