lay-out table of contents

Hi,

I created a new heading style for non-numbered headings
such as "table of figures", "summary",...
This style was based on the "heading1" lay-out.

Then I inserted a Table Of Contents.

As this new heading style was based on "heading1", the lay-
out of it in the Table of Contents coincides with the one
of "heading1": TOC1

How can I give define another lay-out for these headings
in the Table of Contents?

Thanks in advance!

tom

If you're saying that you want them to be included at a different level (or
excluded), substitute a different number (or none) for the 1 that you will
find beside the style in the TOC Options dialog.

Dear Mrs. Barnhill,

Thank you very much for your answer! Actually it's very
simple indeed. However it resulted in another question:

The unnumbered heading1's I connected with a lower TOC-
level as proposed by you.

But as the unnumbered heading1 is in "capitals" (just like
it's numbered counterpart) I do not know how to get it's
TOC-equivalent in "Sentence case". I don't see such an
option in "Modify Style", or should I search the solution
somewhere else? I clearify with an example below.

Looking forward for your answer I would like to thank you
once again,

tom

Text Lay-out:
*************
TABLE OF FIGURES
SUMMARY
1. INTRODUCTION
2. THE BUSINESS OF TRAMP SHIPPING
....

TOC Lay-out:
************
Table of figures
Summary
1. INTRODUCTION
2. THE BUSINESS OF TRAMP SHIPPING
....

TOC entries pick up only direct formatting. If you include All Caps in your
heading style instead of typing with Caps Lock on, you will be able to use
sentence or title case; it will be displayed and printed in All Caps in the
document headings, but the underlying text will be in sentence/title case,
and this is what will show up in the TOC.
